Madigan Jane Cotterill is a Toronto-based freelance writer and photographer, and recent graduate of the Masters of Journalism degree program at Ryerson University. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph in 2018, she began her career as a journalist—travelling the world and working to capture the “untold stories” of people and the planet.

Madigan’s work has appeared in Canadian Geographic, Canadian Geographic Travel, the Ontarion, The Ryersonian and the Review of Journalism. As someone with a strong interest in the environment and human rights, Madigan’s work often deals with topics related to wildlife, conservation, travel and mental health. When Madigan is not writing or out with her camera, you can find her sitting outside with her rabbit, Fig.
